A LuxurIOUS boutique hotel in the heart of Amsterdam

WELCOME TO THE ZETTER 717 AMSSTERDAM

Overlooking the Prinsengracht canals, Hotel 717 is the first luxury boutique hotel of the Netherlands, and the first European address from The Zetter Collection. The hotel delivers exquisite modern care in an atmosphere of historic delights. This monumental canal house has existed since the 17th Century, and welcomed guests as a hotel for the past 25 years.

BEDROOMS & SUITES

Our hotel features 24 individually designed bedrooms and suites, each with its own character, including rooms overlooking the Prinsengracht canal or private garden. No two rooms are quite the same.

Amenities include a private garden, intimate library/bar and residents-only, with breakfast, light snacks and drinks available to hotel guests. The hotel does not operate a full-service restaurant. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available.

OUR LIBRARY & BAR

Step inside and find where calm and comfort come together – our Library & bar areas are you living room, your cozy retreat from the city’s bustle.

Just beyond, our leafy courtyard offers a serene escape, perfect for lingering over a coffee or a glass of wine.

THE PROPERTY & LOCATION

A historic 19th-century Empire-style canal house (built around 1810, with a 17th-century rear structure), thoughtfully restored and reimagined by British interior designer James Thurstan Waterworth of Thurstan. The interiors celebrate the character of a private residence, with collected antiques, layered textiles, original architectural details and a sense of history.

Situated along the Prinsengracht canal, a short walk from Leidseplein, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. The hotel offers a quieter, more residential base from which to explore Amsterdam’s museums, galleries, independent shops and neighbourhood culture.

Guest Stories

HISTORY

Affluent Through the Ages

The back house you’ll find in the peaceful courtyard of Hotel 717 has existed since the 17th century. But our story begins when in 1810, a successful sugar merchant built the monumental canal house that welcomes you today, to celebrate his success with his fellow Amsterdammers.
